Orin Sesru

Slave-turned-Singer

The product of genetic splicing, Orin was created as a slave. Her master (which shall remain nameless as a semi-rich and now-dead NPC) had her created for his own means. The process was not cheap. In order to shorten the time-span until which she would be "useful," Orin was growth accelerated to the age of 10. She had to learn 10 years of lessons and skills in a total of 5 years of massive amounts of private tutoring. Once she was mentally old enough, her other training began.

Orin was engineered to have soft, light blue skin and "seaweed green" hair. Her eyes are a very dark blue. Her body build/frame is slim; made more for speed and agility than strength (and what better kind of slave is there than a slim one with curves?). She has a pair of gills, located on the sides of her neck, near the back. They are working gills, and she can breathe normal oxygen-containing air (like humans, etc. do) through her nose and mouth. She can not use her gills for air breathing or her nose/mouth for water breathing. She stands at 5 feet and 6 inches tall, and weighs in around 110 pounds.

Her skin has a unique characteristic. Under certain lights (mostly natural or synthetic sun/moon light), her skin glows ambiently. The glow is uniform, not patchy, and can be prevented from happening while out in day by wearing a simple robe of general thickness.

Orin's genetic make-up is made of several races, but the ones that contributed the most are:

One strange outcome of the genetic engineering (and believed to be a deliberately desired outcome) is a strange "power" of her voice. At will, she can sing, or even talk softly, and it will put those willing and weak enough, sound asleep. This "power" doesn't seem to work on the strong-willed. The source of this power is unknown; it could be the unique characteristics of her vocal chords, or it may even be a Force-related power (albeit she shows no other use of the Force).

Orin was not destined to be prostituted for money; too much money was spent on her creation and education. Instead she was given accelerated song and dance training at true-age 5 (appearance-age 15). Training was harsh, but the end result was a wonderfully profit-increasing slave. Orin's master used this to his advantage and took her to many slave-friendly systems to sell her entertainment to establishments that paid top dollar. Back at home, Orin was given rather lavish attentions, considering she was a slave. Nice meals, a large indoor pool, a room for herself; her master knew that by papering her, she would remain submissive because of his gifts, and she wouldn't be as stressed as other slaves. Stress would play havok with dancing, and especially singing. As part of the "beautification process" of turning a young slave into a piece of eye candy, several fins that were on Orin's arms and legs were surgically removed. This made her appear slimmer and more humanoid. The surgeon that performed the task was top in his field, and not one scar was left on Orin's body because of it. If one were to look very carefully, or with the aid of a microscope, small marks may be seen running the lengths of the back of her legs and arms. Also around her fingers and toes (webbing was removed).

Eventually, Orin's master came to Tatooine. It was in The Cantina that Orin's talents were sold to Buzz for public display, with the contract stipulation that Orin's master would not make any attempts at procuring new slaves the cantina. This deal worked well, and for a short while Orin performed on stage to her master's command.

However, soon an enraged Jedi by the name of Rachel Harkor attacked Orin's master and his bodyguards, prompting a getaway by the master, with Orin in his tow. A short land-speeder chase ensued, ending in a massive crash. Orin's master was ejected from the wreck and attempted to flee for his life, only to be killed by Rachel. Orin was injured in the crash and taken to the med-bay under The Cantina for treatment. After recovery, the owner of the Cantina, Buzz, offered Orin a paying job and free residence in a nearby apartment. Orin took this offer and has been singing at the Cantina since.

Orin's abilities were made (very) public when a deranged rock star named Nate Tamblam (of Nate Tamblan and The Correlian Tremors) kidnapped her with the intent to use her special voice to raise a demon in Mos Eisley. The event happened on a large stage that was held high above the streets of the city. The entire crowd could see that it was Orin who was strapped to a strange machine and singing to the giant demon. They also saw that it was her voice that eventually tamed the monster, with the help of Ash, Teoxihuitl, Spawn, and Angel.

Orin currently resides as a house-mate in Ash's mansion, and continues to sing at The Cantina regularly.
