Rak 4 is a Class M planet that has an astonishing amount of flora and fauna, and one of the most remarkable ecosystems ever discovered. It has many archaeological oddities in the ruins of its now extinct native people, the Havastans. The planet is orbited by Space Station Rak, and has been the governmental center for almost every nation to exist in the Rak Sector. It is not particularily mineral rich, unlike its neighboring planets in the Rak system, but it is one of the best suited planets to humanoid life.

The Rak Sector was home to an ancient species called the Havastans, who built mighty stone towers and megolithic metropolises. A peaceful people, they began harvesting the minerals of the planets around them when they first began space travel. The other planets, however, were claimed as territory of the Sluagh Empire, which declared war on the Havastans, who were massacred and made extinct.

Years later, the Gorn came and lay claim to Rak 4, calling in New Gornniska. The Sluagh, who could not as easily defeat the Gorn, decided instead to ally themselves with the newcomers, and let them have the planet.

After a generation of careful defense, the Gorn were thrown from thier home by the Children of the Nile, who erradicated the stagnant Gorn with few survivors, who were eaither harvested for genetic material or escaped back to the Alpha Quadrant. The Sluagh, instead of face defeat, committed mass-suicide. The Children of the Nile took the planet and called it New Egypt.

The planet is now contested between the Children of the Nile and the Dread Conglomerate, a nearby empire who had a long-standing alliance with the Gorn and Sluagh.
